About SharePointMark

I’m Mark, a Microsoft Modern Workplace architect with 30+ years in the Microsoft ecosystem. By day I live in the world of the Microsoft Ecosystem (Cloud and On-premises) helping SMB, non-profit and education sector customers make the most of Microsoft 365, Azure, Teams, SharePoint, Power Platform and PowerShell. I care about secure, governed, people-centred solutions that actually make work easier.

In December 2022 I underwent two urgent brain surgeries to remove brain abscesses – an experience that sharpened my purpose and made Mental Health Advocacy personal. This site shares Modern Workplace Mastery and Mental Health resources in plain English: tutorials, governance and security notes, real project lessons, and stigma-free guidance on awareness, well-being and resilience.

This is my personal blog site (not a business) and the public record of my journey towards Microsoft MVP accreditation. Away from the keyboard, I’m proudly married to Jayne – my rock and my life saver. My ethos is Understand → Evolve → Transform: get to the root of the requirement, improve the process, and land changes that last.

Thank you – Mark

Modern Workplace Mastery is a narrative series that follows a fictitious-but-realistic organisation, CalderCloud Co, as we design, build and evolve a Microsoft 365 modern workplace that is secure, sustainable and mentally healthy - from the very first tenant decision.
In November 2022, my life changed in ways I could never have anticipated. What began as a relentless headache quickly spiralled into something far more serious; a brain abscess that almost ended my life. That was over two years ago, and in the time since, this experience has pushed me to question everything I thought I knew about myself, about resilience, and about the way mental health is understood; not just by individuals but by organisations and businesses alike.
AI is undeniably a powerful tool, but it also introduces complexities that can make decision-makers hesitant. For many organisations, the thought of AI generating content autonomously feels uncomfortable, particularly for those accustomed to tight control over their infrastructure and data.
